Terminator Assault - Green Stuff

Well, I've gotten some progress done, so here's my update.

The models have been converted and detailed, and are now ready for paint.

I've done a bit of greenstuff work to detail the chapter badges on the shoulder pads.

I've also based them taller so that they appear bigger. They actually now stand taller than a contemporary plastic terminator, and as a result, the eye is fooled to think they are about the same size, because they look slightly bigger than they are. So mixing them with plastic terminators will be less of an issue.

Bulking out the shoulder pads with bits also helps contribute to the size illusion.

Now I just have to wait for the green stuff to dry and then get painting.

And yes, I'm painting right over top of the red paint. There is no reason to strip these models as the layers of paint already on them isn't affecting the detail. And considering the base coat on the blue marines was done with ultramarine blue spray, there will be good bite for building up, and the red was primed with Blood Angels red spray, and the foundation blue base coat I use will coat the red exactly the same as the blue.

Anyway, enjoy until next time!

Terminator Assault

On my table right now is a six man squad of Assault Terminators for Games Workshop's 40K.

The squad is equipped with 2 thunder hammers and storm shields, and 4 pairs of lightning claws.

As you can see from this picture, the squad is made up of older metal terminators. To make them fit in with current scale terminators, I'm basing them on top of 40mm bases.

This extra height to the base makes the old metal models stand physically slightly higher than the current plastic terminators, and it fosters the illusion that they are larger than they are. As a result, they don't look too different, and blend in better with the newer larger plastic terminators.

I'm also adding a variety of bitz to the terminators to give them a little more detail, and help disguise that they are slightly smaller.

Something something something something....

Welcome!

This is a new wargaming hobby blog that I'm putting together for my friends to follow my current exploits.

It's currently an experiment, but I hope the content and the discussions will keep you interested enough to follow along. I'm a sporadic blogger at best, so there might be times when the blog is idle for weeks. Followed by times of frenzied hobby activity. This all, of course, depends on my current hobby situation, specifically if I'm getting ready for a tournament, or hobby event, etc.

Hopefully I'll be able to branch this blog into a couple of sections to help people find different things more easily. I'm thinking I might put in a campaign section, a modelling section, gallery, etc.

So if you have a great idea and would like to see something posted here, or a specific section added, please feel free to comment here. I may not incorporate the idea, but I appreciate all feedback that will help me improve this blog.

Cheers,
Hivemind
